How To Create A Border In Photoshop

Open the border file.
On the top menu select file then place then select your photo. Or for a faster way use the keyboard shortcut ctrl j win command j mac. Tick the relative box enter 5 as the border size in both the width and height boxes. You can choose a different blending mode for each layer so that they don t look so uniform.
If you want the frame to be another shape click and hold the rectangle tool and select a different shape. Create a new layer and fill it with the color you want for the background. Press ctrl j command j on the mac to copy the selected area and create a new layer from that area. To add a border in photoshop with rounded corners for example use the rounded rectangle tool.
You may have to make some minor manual adjustments by dragging the edges hold down the shift key while using the transform tool. In the dialog box set the color as white if it s not already and click ok. Photoshop resizes and inserts your photo into the border file. Select the rectangle tool in the toolbox to create a rectangular frame.

Zoom out to make room for the border. To create the photo border we ll be adding more canvas space around the image. Click ok in the box on your screen to create a new duplicate layer. In the layers panel move the colored background layer underneath your deckled image.
So lets give ourselves more room to work by zooming out. Click the image menu at the top and select canvas size.
