Use a hose or faucet to rinse off the soap from the brush.
Start at the heel of the brush near the metal band and work your way up to the tips of the bristles. Clean paintbrushes before the paint has a chance to dry on the brush whether you re using latex paint or oil alkyd paint it s the best way to keep your equipment in good shape. The paint should settle to the bottom of the bucket. Then vigorously push the brush in the container up and down for a minute or so.
Dry your paint brush and remove any remaining solvent on a paper towel or old rag. Squeeze the brushes again with a dry newspaper to remove more paint. If the paint was dried onto the brushes then soak them in water beforehand. Before you wash your brush wipe the bristles on the inner rim of the open paint can a few times to scrape off as much paint as possible.
Rinse the brushes with warm soapy water. After the brush has been soaking for a day or two most of the paint will drop off it. I pinkie swear this works great on chalk paint and latex paint. Work off any remaining flecks of paint by using your fingers while you rinse the brush under the clean water.
