How To Custom Cut Led Christmas Lights

It can be a real hassle to buy new christmas lights every year. With led christmas lights you don t have to do that anymore. I have a string of 25 c9 led christmas lights and i d like to shorten the string. After twisting the wires together secure with a wires connector. Cover the newly joined wires with a wire nut connector and secure it with electrical tape. For instance if the christmas lights stretch to 25 feet and you need to cover 35 feet you will need two 25 foot light strands. Led strip lights are designed to be easy to cut apart with a pair of scissors.
Each led has a pair of copper dots at the end. After untangling the string they seem to be wired like this. Step 4 wrap each light with a 2 inch piece of tape until all unwanted bulbs are completely covered. Enjoy your new shortened led christmas lights.

Use wire cutters to strip the ends of the two wires cut in the previous step. With the lights unplugged cut the two wires that enter the last light in the series strand with wire cutters. Cut the remaining wire the same length as the other two. As long as you cut between the dots all of the leds will work.
Twist the two bare wire ends together. From there you can connect the leds to a power source either through a quick connector or by soldering. Lastly cover the wire with a wire nut connector and secure with electrical tape so it doesn t fall off. Cut a 2 inch piece of electrical tape for each light that needs to be covered.
Step 3 cut a portion of one strand of lights to the length you need to add.
