Take the end of the new cord and place it on top of the broken end.

Locate the cord lock mechanism in the headrail the lift cords run through this. To rethread a roller blind rope cord start by removing the blinds from the wall and popping out the clutch which is the case with the cord in it. These buttons hold the ladder tape in place and cover up the knot of the cord. Customer service will reference this number to determine how much cord is needed.

Next pull the cord out of the clutch the rest of the way. Do this for all runs of cord. Take the broken cord and snip off any extra threads. With one hand guiding the cord splice through the slats and headbox hardware pull on the old lift cord.

If this does not fix the problem take your blind out of the window. Remove the cap covering the hole in the bottom rail of the venetian blinds. They vary depending on your model of blind. A quick way to fix broken blinds you can simply flip the blind and punch a hole on the upside down area.

First hold your lift cords level with the headrail and gently pull. It a big list but you are likely to find most of them somewhere in your tool shed. Pull the cord toward you and cut the knot off the end of the cord. You can do this with your hands and fingers.

Look for the end of the cord where it is tied in a knot. Then make a 1 inch loop with the cord hold the clutch with the base facing down and slide the loop under the guard until it comes out on top of the pulley teeth. Take the cord by the loop and pull it out far enough so you can slip it down over the barrel. Set the shade on your work space and use the pliers and or the nail file to pop the bottom buttons off. Now all you have to do is hang it back the way it was. While the blind is still hung fig.

A paperclip or sturdy tape will also go a long way in repairing the broken slot. With the replacement cord in hand take one end and attach it to the broken end of the cord. You will see a pin. Pull the knot out and clip it off.
