You don t get dry by not drinking water at least not at first. In the current age of bodybuilding being hard shredded dry and conditioned is the most important thing. It also primes your body for the carb depletion and re introduction process. During most of this program you ll be drinking a few gallons of water per day.
If you want to dry out for your show then start drinking 2 gallons of water the sunday before your contest. Do this for two days then go back to your normal low carb intake. Water serves 2 purposes to flush your body of excess sodium and to fill your muscles out.

In the final week of preparation prior to a competition bodybuilders strive to fill out their muscles with the addition of carbohydrates and at the same time reduce fluids in the body in between the muscle and the skin to create the fullest and driest look possible. This will help make intricate muscle details literally pop out from beneath the skin to produce a much more dramatic and visually pronounced appearance. Then about six days out from your event you want to cut your carbs back even more.
