How To Connect Jumper Cables To Battery

Attach the other negative jumper cable lead to a metal ground. Clamp the matching end of the same cable to the positive post on the working battery. Most jumper cables do not have the ability to pass the amount of current needed to actually start the vehicle but they do have the ability to assist in charging the battery so it can start the vehicle. Then attach the other red clamp to the positive side of the working battery.

This may take 10 30 minutes of being on the jumper cables before there s enough amperage present to attempt to start the car. You can use the engine block or another metal surface of the vehicle away from the battery. Squeeze the clamp to open it then fit it securely around the metal terminal.
