How To Clean A Wooden Knife Block

Let your knife block sit for another 12 hours or more so that it is completely dry.

Using a damp cloth wipe down the block. Wipe the block with a clean damp cloth. To protect your knife block from cracking over time you can rub it with a wood safe mineral oil. Continue holding the wooden knife block over the sink or trash can and aim the blow dryer inside each of the empty slots.

Rinse or replace the pipe cleaner as needed until each of the slots had been scrubbed thoroughly. Get a 12 inch pipe cleaner and work gently to insert it into each slot. Using a scrubby sponge or brush soap and water gently scrub the outside of the block. Wipe the solution around the outside of the container and then pour the mixture into the slots filling them up all the way.

You can also aim a hair dryer at the slots on the highest speed setting to blow any crud out. Wipe down the block with a clean damp cloth. When you feel your block is clean wipe the block with a clean dry cloth to make sure you are as dry as possible. Pour a bleach solution into the knife slots.
